A Delicious Tasting Room

I am so excited to share this Makeover  -- my first true Embellish design!!!  Today, I am featuring my amazing friend's formal living room.  Anita, of Maliha Creations, uses her formal living room for tastings of her gorgeous and equally delicious cakes.  I wanted to make this room showcase her beautiful cake designs and create an elegant atmosphere for those lucky brides and grooms-to-be during their cake consultations.
I was so anxious to get my hands on this project, I neglected to take before photos.  Please forgive me; I think the design is exciting enough to be featured on its own, no?
Just to prove there are no real "rules" for decorating, I chose a deep grey for the walls of this relatively small room -- I love it when a homeowner has faith in my "vision" despite their own reservations!.  To offset the dark tone of the walls, I used simple cotton duck panels with grommeted tops.  Hanging them from the ceiling gives the room height and the long cream panels add drama.
A new cream velvet sofa with clean lines allows for comfortable guest seating.  Above it, three framed photos taken by Susan Kalergis show an artful interpretation of baking instruments in Sepia tones photographed in Anita's own kitchen.  Anita's daughter supplied the artwork for the opposite wall, a mixed-media cake in acrylic and glitter.

A new rug adds softness and ties in the color of the striped chairs already in the room.  A new stainless steel table displays Anita's own pieces of art.  A new drum shade pendant finishes off a jewel box of a room to match the gems on display.

Do you have a room in need of a makeover?  Give me a call.....maybe yours will be featured in a Makeover Blog!
